Dear Ms. Morton,
Thank you for contacting the Governor’s Office regarding, among other things, allegations of corruption or misconduct by a public official in Greenville County. Our office understands your concerns and frustrations and would like to refer you to State authorities that have the responsibility to conduct investigations of allegations of public corruption. If a public official is indicted for certain actions of misconduct or corruption, then the Governor may suspend that official from office pursuant to her constitutional and statutory authority under the laws of the State of South Carolina.
For allegations of criminal misconduct by public officials, citizens may contact the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) at 803-737-9000 and may send specific information or potential evidence to the following address:
State Law Enforcement Division
Post Office Box 21398
Columbia, South Carolina 29221
For allegations of ethical misconduct by public officials, citizens may contact the South Carolina State Ethics Commission at 803-253-4192 and may complete a Complaint Form online at ethics.sc.gov/complaints and mail it to the following address:
State Ethics Commission
5000 Thurmond Mall, Suite 250
Columbia, South Carolina 29201
Like you, Governor Haley believes that the people of South Carolina deserve good, honest, open, and transparent government, which is exactly why she led the effort to pass comprehensive, meaningful ethics reform, signed into law earlier this year.
Again, thank you for contacting the Governor’s Office about this important matter. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.
